Police arrest dozens of Revolutionary Maoist leaders during one-hour vehicular strike

Kathmandu. Dozens of cadres and leaders of Communist Party of Nepal (Revolutionary Maoist) have been arrested from Kathmandu during the one-hour vehicular strike enforced by the Party on Friday.

Police arrested Party’s Central Secretariat Member and New-State In-Charge Dinesh Sharma ‘Sagar’, Central Secretariat Member Pawan Man Shrestha, Central Committee Member, Phurnamgel Lama among dozens of leaders and cadres during the protest.

The party has pressed the government to immediately release the arrested cadres warning of strong protests if its leaders were not released. Issuing a press release by the Party Chairman Mohan Baidya ‘Kiran,’ the Chairman condemned and opposed the malpractice of the fascist government by arresting its leaders and cadres.

 It has been learnt that the arrestees have been kept at Police Club at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu.

The party had called for an hour vehicular strike from 10 AM to 11 AM today demanding release of its four cadres and leaders including Central Committee Member Shivram Yadav arrested on the charge of alleged extortion from Bagbazaar on Wednesday.

The party has called for whistle rally on Saturday afternoon and Valley bandh on Sunday to pressure the government to release the party cadres who were arrested from Bagbazaar.
