Kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal (Revolutionary Maoist) has demanded that its cadres and leaders arrested from Bagbazaar on Wednesdaybe released at the earliest.
The Police on Wednesday had arrested four party cadres including a central member of the party Shiva Ram Yadav, Central Coordinator of All Nepal Independent Students Union (Revolutionary) Ram Nepali, ANNISU (R) Central Committee Member duo Mahesh Shrestha and Dipendra Sunuwar on the charge of alleged extortion from Bagbazaar in Kathmandu.
The Party has also decided to stage protests if the arrested cadres were not released till Thursday evening. The protests include vehicular strike from 10 AM to 11 AM for one hour on Friday, whistle rally on Saturday afternoon and Valley bandh on Sunday.
Organizing a press conference at the Party’s central office at Buddhanagar in Kathmandu on Thursday, Revolutionary Maoist’s Newa State said that the party cadres were deliberately arrested while they had gone to the public as a part of the party’s ideological, political and economic campaign.
Speaking at the press conference, In-charge of Newa State Dinesh Sharma ‘Sagar’ said that the incumbent government has been creating hostile environment before the onset of festivals like Dashai, Tihar and warned of staging protests against government’s such activities.
“Our party condemns and opposes the malpractice of the government,” he further added.
