Press Communiqué of CPN (Revolutionary Maoist)

‘The secretariat meeting of the CPN (Revolutionary Maoist), Chaired by chairman Kiran, was held on March 11, 2017. This statement has been issued to publicise some of the important decisions adopted by the meeting.

1. In the beginning, the meeting paid emotional homage by observing one minute silence to the immortal martyrs who attained martyrdom in the context of different mass movements, people’s war and the world proletarian revolution.
2. The present political situation and the election were seriously discussed in the meeting. Our party, on the one hand, believes that the establishment of Federal People’s Republic is a must because the present regressive state power and the system cannot solve the problems related to national independence, democracy and people’s livelihood and on the other it is also clear that party can take up any policy of using or boycotting election as a political tactic based on the concrete analysis of the concrete condition. In the present situation, when the government has declared local election to be held on May 14, 2017, the contradiction among the political parties that stand for the present state power and the system has been intensifying, when they have stood against their own stance of the constitution in which it says that the provincial election should take place first and then the local election, when the concept of federalism with identity together with establishment of special, preserved and local autonomous region has been violated, when the contradiction has further sharpened after five Nepali youths were killed by indiscriminate firing of police near the UML’s mass meeting in Saptari, when a patriot youth has been killed by the SSB in Kanchapur district and the national independence has been seriously endangered, the local election cannot take place, even if it is forcefully held the situation will become further awful. Therefore, our party believes that the election, if done in this situation and the stipulated date, will be meaningless.
3. On the struggle:

In the situation when Saptari incident has taken place and national independence has been seriously jeopardised by way of increasing border encroachment on the part of Indian expansionism, our party has decided to organise a protest rally all across the country on March 18, 2017 with the demands that India should return back the land encroached, that the international border between Nepal and India should be regulated in a scientific manner and that Indian government should apologise the Kanchanpur incident etc.
5. Party has decided to support the struggles carried out on the issues including national independence, democracy and people’s livelihood and the federalism with identity.
6. Party has decided to continue the three month campaign that is going on the questions of expansion and consolidation of organisations and to carry out struggles on national independence, democracy and people’s livelihood by incorporating the aforesaid issues in the campaign and make it effective.
