Vaidya accuses Prachanda-led government of ridiculing democratic republic

Kathmandu: Prachanda-led government arrested the leaders and cadres, who, being involved in the sit-in programme in front of the election commission central office, were demanding party registration, election symbol and the voter’s list update. Issuing a press statement on Sunday, CPN (Revolutionary Maoist) Chairman Mohan Vaidya Kiran accused the government, who arrested the leaders and cadres, of ridiculing democratic republic.

The statement writes, “The government, ridiculing the democratic republic, has staged fascist terror by arresting more than 40 leaders and cadres including C P Gajurel, member of the central headquarters of our party and the Chairman of Patriotic People’s Republican Front, Nepal, CCM Comrade Suresh Shrestha, Comrade Basanta Bogati, among others and the convenor of Naya Shakti Party and ex-Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai.”

The statement has strongly demanded with the government to immediately release the arrested leaders and cadres and fulfil the demands put forward by them. The statement states that the party will call for strong protest programmes, if such incidents are not stopped, and the government will be responsible for the entire consequences thereof.
